Over the past 20 years, generous partners have invested more than $5 million into the work of The Compton Initiative. That support turns vision into action—providing the resources needed to bring volunteers together and transform neighborhoods throughout Compton.

With each community workday costing an average of $74,000, strong partnerships are essential. Every investment helps us keep showing up, serving alongside the community, and restoring Compton block by block.

We’re Growing to 10,000 Partners & Volunteers

Our vision is to build a movement of 10,000 partners and volunteers by 2030 who are invested in a brighter Compton.

Today, our quarterly workdays bring together 200+ volunteers to revitalize homes, businesses, schools, churches, and public spaces. Through monthly Bright Lights of Compton (BLOC) Lighthouse events, Compton residents also come together to clean and beautify neighborhoods across the city.

With more people involved, we can serve more neighborhoods, strengthen more relationships, and create lasting change throughout Compton.

Restoring Compton, Block by Block

Partnership makes transformation possible. Together, we’ve beautified more than 800 homes, 470 buildings, 50 schools, and 60 churches, created 250+ murals, and removed tens of thousands of pounds of trash from public spaces throughout Compton.

But the impact goes beyond fresh paint and cleaner streets. Each project helps restore pride, strengthen neighborhoods, and remind residents that their community is worth investing in. Together, we’re building a brighter Compton—one block at a time.
