Before & After
 | | On June 28th, fifty people from Paramount, California and from Third Reformed Church in Pella, Iowa united to bring transformation to an old yellow house. This home was built in 1950 and the two front windows have seen many changes from its perch on Crane Street in Compton, California. When a few concerned individuals suggested that it be one of the work sites for the next work day it was in for another radical change. |

| | The peeling paint, leaking roof, and disheveled yard required more than just a day of labor. Due to the magnitude of work that needed to be done a team of people spent a week preparing the house for the work day. One volunteer used his own Bobcat to clear the backyard. A roofing team was brought in to assess the damage. Yellow chipped paint was peeled off layer by layer in preparation for the work day. |

 | | All this behind the scenes work and care set the ground for a productive workday on the last Saturday in June. The young and the old, the coastal and the Midwestern, the handy and the happy, sweat together over the old yellow house on Crane street. The house was primed and painted, a new roof was put on, and the yard was completely cleared. The property was filled with volunteers in yellow shirts and dirty hands. |

 | | The result: transformation. On June 28, 2008 the fifty year old yellow house became the renovated slate blue home. The two front windows have seen yet another change on Crane Street and a change in the city of Compton. Since this photo, an entire new roof has been added as well. |
